The Requiem Ride Is Out!

The Requiem Ride from Capt. Cal Studios on Vimeo.

The Requiem Ride DVDs are available! As I said before, these DVDs are FREE. I am not charging a dime for them, all I ask is a donation of $5 for the cost of shipping. Check out the About page for more info and how to donate through Paypal. The DVDs include some cool bonus features and stickers! Who doesn't love stickers!? I also have a limited number of wide screen copies available. (Let me know if you want a wide screen version. Just make sure your TV/DVD player can handle it, its super wide and super HD!) For those of you who have already reserved your copies they are ready for you!

The animation is now LIVE on the site through Vimeo. Click on the Film tab to check it out and spread the word!

The website has also had an overhaul to better serve you! A new gallery section has also been added.

Lastly, I really want to thank everyone who has supported me in making this animated short. No really, thank you! It was a crazy idea that turned into a true project that consumed my life for two years. I had many nights with no sleep, consumed gallons Redbull, and spent countless hours in front of the computer that I'm sure I have now developed carpel tunnel. However, more importantly, I graduated from Pratt Institute with honors because of it. Some of you who have helped with this project will be receiving a little something extra with your care package.

Thanks again!

Trying To Get Back On Track Again!

Being without power for a little over a week definitely threw a curve ball in my schedule. I missed my Halloween deadline because of Sandy. My shipments of the DVD items were delayed and I thought one of the packages were gone for good but it eventually showed. Thanks for your patients, I'm trying to get back on track again. Stay tuned!

Got Some Big News!!!

It's been quite some time since anything has been posted here! I said in my last post The Requiem Ride was finished and you're probably wondering where is it!? So my excuse is, it was an extremely busy summer and it just felt appropriate to release the animation around Halloween! So this week The Requiem Ride will uploaded online for your viewing pleasure.

However, the biggest news of all is the dvds are being made and they are free. Yes FREE! Just to avoid any legal issues, copyrights, whatever, I'm making the dvds free. If you want to make a donation to the website, I'll be putting up a paypal link on the side bar. (It can be any amount, you dont even have to make one, it just helps with the costs of the site, discs, printing etc.) I'll be making a limited number of discs so reserve yours now by emailing me at captcal@gmail.com. Thanks for your patients and hope you didn't forget about the animation! I'm so stoked to finally be releasing The Requiem Ride. Stay tuned!

Finished!

So The Requiem Ride animation for my senior project is complete! It's been a long year and half of work. Not only that, the idea of this animation has only been rolling around in my head close to six years. It's kind of strange seeing it on a screen and not have to picture it just in my mind anymore.

It will be some time before it will be released online. In the meantime I'll be working on creating DVDs and some cool freebies. Keep checking the site for further updates.

Here's Another Screenshot!

I've been so busy with animating and rendering lately it's been hard to find the time to give you folks updates, so here's another. The computer and I are taking a break tonight and starting up again tomorrow. For those of you who are interested we are having a screening at the Dixon Theater in NYC, April 26 from 7-10. This was just released so things may change. I'll keep you posted! Enjoy this new screenshot.

Still Here And Still Working!

I know nothing has been posted in some time and I'm sure you're all wondering what goes on. Well I'm still here and still very hard at work. I'm currently going through the tedious stages of test lighting and rendering. Just like a painter you cant see it till its done! (or something I feel is close to it) In the next week or so I'll be posting my progress. Stay tuned!

The Plymouth

This is what I was up to with that Plymouth. It's for a lighting and rendering assignment and originally based off a Life magazine photo.

Hacking Up The Hearse

To make a Plymouth for another project.

I deleted the side doors and moved the rear of the body forwards and started to reshape the fins.

Extruded out the new roof line.

Here I smoothed out and reshaped the front fender and the wheel wells.

The door glass post is added and the bumpers are reshaped.

Here I started to add the side trim. Some work on the grill and trunk and its pretty much finished. I dont have to go crazy with the details, just the basic outline. You will see why later.
